"Sugar. Yes please. Won't you come and put it down on me." Heard this song today and reminded me of home, but I didn't get homesick:) morning routine consists of personal study at 8, companion study at 9 study from the First 12 Weeks manual at 10 and read safeguards for technology at 11 with lunch at 11:20, out by 12:30 so we did everything up to companion study today and started laundry at 10. Went to the church while the laundry was washing to send the first email. We wash in the basement of our apartment building then take it to a cleaners near by to dry cause it is cheaper to dry there but cheaper to wash at our apartment building. Then we went to target for food, had lunch back at the apartment, then went to Macy's. Bought a pair of winter boots but to get a discount, I will pick them up in 2 weeks. Saved like $45 this way. Then bought a mug at a local dollar store thing. Went back and forth with emails with mom and dad. Ate dinner and went contacting at the library. We then went to Family Home Evening but it was in Chinese so we left after 5 min to go contacting and do something more productive. And that was our day. Not homesick at all today even with the emails home. Starting to adjust now:) also got a library card today and got sour patch kids for my Halloween present:)

"For this moment, we own it." I've had this song stuck in my head. It's called "We Own It". Anyways, today was interesting. We had a contact from the street call us today as we were heading to district meeting at 1 and said he wanted to meet at the church. We found him there since that was where district meeting was and said we couldn't meet today but tomorrow. So we might be meeting tomorrow but he will check his schedule. He is so interested and wants to learn. Also, he only addresses me. He doesn't even talk to or even address Elder Reese. All the texts and calls are addressed to me. So funny. Maybe he is one of those I was meant to find here in Flushing. Hope he sticks with it. Then we had 2 people drop us today so that was fun. We taught a less active and then visited an investigator that was out of town and we came to find out she is still out of town. So we visited a couple in the ward and came to find out that the wife is the daughter of the Stake President and that they all lived in the same home. So we taught the daughter and wife of the Stake President tonight. Fun times. I wore Emma's tie today. The purple one that she gave me.

"Billie Jean is not my lover. She's just a girl. She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son" today was rough. It rained for one, we went knocking for 4 hours, in the rain for two, and we spent the night contacting for three. So much standing, walking, and rain. Not a fun day. I was fasting today for a family reason. So I was also hungry all day but I ended the fast by going to a place called 4 Choice, 1 Soup. The Spanish elders have told me to go there ever since I got here and we were going to go together, but they only have $7 between the two of them till Friday night. How fun. Also got a heart breaking email about a family member and their struggles in school. I so wish I was there to help them and to give them counsel. It pains me to be stuck here but it is a faith builder in the Lord to watch over them and protect them. Also, I got a new cousin yesterday. I don't even remember how many cousins I have now.

"For it's the, eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight. Rising up to the challenge of our rivals. And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night." Another hard day. Lots of street contacting with no success. They weren't even saying hello back or even acknowledging we were there like they would other days. Just hard to feel like you don't mean anything to them when you try to do everything for them. We also had weekly planning meeting which was sad because we realized we only taught 1 lesson this week. So we plan to have 3 next week at least but we are happy if we get the 1 again. So we just got to stay strong and stay positive. Stay faithful and endure to the end. That's why I choose eye of the tiger today. Not because I heard it but because it is motivational.
10-30-15
"For we ride out together, and we ride out forever." Happy 1 month anniversary! Today was long. We did member contacting to get to know the members better and build trust. We planned to visit 19, only 2 answered the door. And 1 of them is away till end of January and his sister answered the door. So basically 1 person answered. But I know flushing really well now. Then we did contacting and then correlation where we meet with the ward mission leader. He only speaks Spanish so the sisters and Spanish elders translate for us:) then we had a lesson at a less actives house and we brought along a return missionary from 2 weeks ago. Yeah, he got home 2 weeks ago so he still knows his stuff, better than elder Reese and I combined probably. The song today is called "Ride Out".

"Cause you know it's thriller! Thriller night!" Happy Halloween from my apartment at 6 pm:) So here is what we did today. We did our personal study and then got dresses in service clothes to help a member move. We go to the members home at 10 and wait there for 2 hours, talking with the Spanish elders and a return missionary named Fredy. The members speaks Spanish with broken English so thank goodness for the elders to translate for us. I've been learning more Spanish out here than in Spanish class in high school, and I'm English speaking. We were waiting for the member's son to come with the car but said he was going to be late. So after the 2 hours of sitting there talking, the member takes us to McDonald's for lunch, still haven't done anything. Then we get back and the son is there and we get going. We take 2 trips to the new home, which is out of our area by the way, but our district leader is one of the Spanish elders:) so 2 trips, and we got done at 3. We saw people trick or treating at 1:30 pm... They start so early here. We get to our apartment and change to go to the Halloween party at the church but we went by the bank on Main Street. While there we saw like a million people trick or treating at 4 pm and that's the most people I have seen here and they were trick or treating at businesses!!! Like businesses were giving out candy. They start early for the same reason we are in our apartment at 6 pm, crazy people come out at night. So we go to the party at the church and no one is there but missionaries and some investigators. Members didn't show up till 5:30 and it started at 4 according to the announcements given last Sunday. So we left the party and our investigators stayed so hopefully they make friends. There was a dj, laser lights, some food when we left. Sounded like a fun party. Now we are in the Chinese elders apartment, elders Hendrickson and Hilton, that is in our building going to play Lord of the Rings edition of Risk. It was also Elder Hendrickson's birthday today. Today, I spent a total of 2 hours in proselytize clothes. The rest was in jeans and a sweatshirt:) Happy Halloween:)

"Hooka Chaka Hooka Hooka Chaka Hooka Chaka" Sunday, church day. But first off, the RM Fredy got a calling today, as branch clerk, as a 20 year old. He's excited. Anyways, we had a less active come to church today and this is the first time Elder Reese has seen this less active come to church ever. Very exciting. And then we had a baptism for an 8 year old today and had dinner afterwards so we broke our fast at church. The baptism was at 5 and the food came at 6 and then we went contacting on the street. No success but I felt great talking to people and so friendly. Never felt like that before. Then we were given free bags of chips while contacting today and a street vendor gave us a free soda. He runs a Halal cart and we say hi to him every time we walk by which is like a few times a day. Then this week flew by so fast. I thought it should be Thursday or something. The song is from Hooked on a Feeling:) #GuardiansoftheGalaxy

Pretty exciting week I felt like for this week. Halloween was fun and interesting. We saw a house walking back to the bus stop and I took a few pictures of it. I'll send them in another email. Along with other pictures from the week. We have so much junk food now from last week cause we just went crazy buying food and candy but didn't really eat any of it Halloween night so it is everywhere now. My desk slowly gathers food and drink mixes so it is starting to get crowded. I'm loving it here now in Flushing and really adjusting:) I have no idea what to say now. So good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite, because there are literally thousands of them. Oh, and there's probably something in your closet.:) got to love despicable me:)

Love you all
