Week 86 Letter & Pictures

For those of you in NY, today is a great day to go outside and go to the beach. But not get in the water if you're a missionary. It's like 73° outside and tomorrow is almost 80°. I'm so ready for the warm weather and today we are going to the beach for our district activity.

Anyways, but to talk about last week, here we go:

4-3-17
"I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can, so I can, watch you weave and breathe the stormy night." Preparation day! And today was a little different from usual preparation days. We did our laundry and then had interviews with President Reynolds in Bensonhurst. That was fun and then we drove to the mall in Staten and had lunch there and walked around for a bit. Went to the Spanish chapel and Jay was there already giving haircuts so we hoped right in line and played basketball and got haircuts. After preparation day, we went to the church and sent off a prepare to learn for Margaret in preparation for tomorrow's lesson. Then our landlord called and wanted us to open up for him to set some mouse traps as another tenant saw one. So we opened it for him and talked for a bit. Then we did a few look ups around as it was really late now to go very far.
4-4-17
"This is my town, everybody's gonna make it, move!" Today was a little slower but it was a good night. We had the usual morning and lunch followed by trying to visit Howard but he wasn't home so we went to the church and looked up some members to visit and tried to have a Facebook lesson with Margaret but she didn't get on in time so we left to go look up the members and didn't find any success with the members but Margaret messaged back later and we set up for tomorrow at a better time. Had dinner at KFC and went to contact a referral but they didn't answer so we knocked a street over and got to show the Easter video to a group of guys and one said he got super calm all of the sudden. He said he was ready to fight some dude and that video calmed him right down and wanted us to come back so we set up a lesson for Thursday afternoon. He was solid so we hope something comes out of him. Kept knocking but no one else was answering and one that did said it was too late. So we took that as the sign to finish up and we visited a less active nearby. Showed the video to her as well and that ended our night.
4-5-17
"Are we at the equator yet?"
"No, because we would see a big dotted line going across."
One year ago, today, I got transferred to my second area with Elder Parrish. Feels like a week ago that happened but time flies fast. Average day today. We went to district meeting after our morning and that was a pretty good district meeting. Elder Hunt gave a great workshop on daily planning and then we went home and ate lunch. Went to the church and made pass along cards and waited for Margaret to get online to talk but once again she didn't get on in time. Later we learned she was busy helping someone and didn't get the time to talk today. We made cards until dinner and after dinner we went and contacted referrals and got to see one and talked about the Book of Mormon with them and they want to come to church this Sunday as their church is all the way in Queens. Sweet! We will be sure to follow up with them and did a little bit of knocking but wasn't able to show the video to many people today. That's how we needed our night.
4-6-17
"Girl I can't see your wings but you're an angel!" It was a rainy day so it out us in a gloomy mood. But still got to work  and we went to visit some of our investigators right after lunch and tried to go to the lessons we had but the first wasn't home so we knocked. No one answered, and the second was with Kelly, the guy from Tuesday that we showed the video to and called him down. We met with him but he was surprised to see us in the rain so he let us in even though he forgot. We talked about the Book of Mormon and he was so down to read it. He wasn't sure if he could come to church yet but he wants to come. He just might have something going on but he wants to come. We're excited to meet with him. Then we ate dinner and tried to get wifi to look up a few investigators but the church wasn't working so we had to go to the nearest free wifi spot, the mall. Found a few and went to visit them and knock around them as they didn't answer. No one was in the mood to talk though. Slow day over all.
4-7-17
"I'm gonna make a change, for once in my life." Pretty average day today with weekly Planning after lunch and then visited Howard. He was home so we got to sit down and talk with him for a bit. Then we had dinner and went to see a potential investigator but she wasn't home. Then we went to the church to use the computer as elder stewart needed to fix somethings before they turned into problems. Hard part is when he signed on, the security kicked in and wouldn't let him use it as the computer thought he was a hacker. So it needed a rescue email or text, and the same this happened to email until it got sent to his mom. So he was trying all sorts of ways to get around it but in the end, the computer won. So he will be talking to his mom on Monday to get that figured out. That ended our night as it took so long.
4-8-17
"Low flow shower heads? I don't like the sound of that." Today was more of a fun day. We had breakfast with Brother Colbert at IHOP and then we got ready to help with service with the Spanish missionaries. Quickly changed and wen to teach Margaret and her daughter Samantha. They are both awesome and said they would be coming to church tomorrow. Then we looked up Kenny and made sure he was coming tomorrow as well and he said he should be. Then looked up another investigator in the area but no answer. So we had dinner and went to work on the progress record but could only do so much so we went finding for a bit in an apartment building until we got everything and went back to finish to end the night.
4-9-17
"You shall not pass!" Today was interesting. We had ward council in the morning and two weeks ago everyone wanted the progress record typed but bishop wasn't there then and today he wanted it hand written. So annoying to keep getting told different opinions. But whatever, then Elder Stewart and I gave talks in sacrament meeting on our thoughts from General Conference. That was good and got plenty of compliments about it. Margaret came to church but no one else did, not even her daughter. Not sure why but Margaret said she learned a lot from it. After church, we had lunch and did our studies until a member invited us over for dinner. Ate dinner and went to do look ups and knocking but it was a slow night. Nothing came out of it but it was good.

So Margaret came to church and is progressing well! She says she learns a lot at church and loves it. We are set up to do Facebook lessons this week and hopefully her daughter can join in on those as well. Those are going to be Tuesdays and Thursdays and we will meet at her home on Saturdays. Then Kenny didn't make it to church and haven't followed up with him yet to see what happened but we are scheduled to meet tomorrow in the afternoon. So we will also be trying to get him on date for baptism. Our goal this week for our new Investigators is to get them in date this week. Hopefully it all works out ok:) Howard is doing ok, not progressing in the gospel but loves us. He offered to take us to the International Car Show in Manhattan this weekend. I so wish we could go.

Hope everyone is enjoying the nice weather wherever you may be and I will catch you in the next email. See ya!
